Pastoral Care - Year 7

Message from the Head of Year: Miss Brown

I am Miss Brown, Year 7 Learning Community Team Leader. Here at Robert Clack School we are committed to ensuring that your child has the best opportunity to succeed in all aspects of school life. Throughout the year your child will have the opportunity to participate in many new experiences for example a weekend to Kingswood; numerous extra curricular clubs; inter form competitions; performing in a school assembly to name but a few. We hope that through these experiences, linked with strong emphasis on academic success through our broad and varied curriculum, your child will grow academically, socially and emotionally.

To ensure that your child has the best start at Robert Clack we maintain very good links with our feeder Primary schools and look each year on improving the transition process your child goes through from Primary School to Robert Clack. Below are some quotes from our current Year 8 pupils about their experiences of changing schools.

“I have really enjoyed being a Year 7 this year. At first, I found it quite hard to get used to the school and got lost a few times. It’s difficult to go from a small primary school into a huge senior school, especially when only one or two people from your school have moved up with you. But, after a week or two I had a big group of friends from all different classes.”

Lewis Howlett

“I found coming to Robert Clack a big, hard change but now I am happy, I have loads of friends and if you try as hard as you can, you can have fun!”

Tori Wheatley

I hope you look forward to seeing the achievements of our current Year 7 pupils throughout the year.

Care, guidance and support are outstanding. Students are positive about the effective pastoral system that contributes to the 'family-like' community in the school. Students feel safe in school, supported by the high levels of supervision throughout the day. There are outstanding links with local authority and other external agencies so that vulnerable students including looked after children are well cared for. Careers advice and support are excellent and ensure that students are well informed about the options available to them for the next stage of education and working life. Systematic whole-school procedures rigorously check on students' academic progress. Day-to-day guidance to students on how to improve their performance is very effective.
